THE NEUROPATHIES COMPLICATING PERIPHERAL NERVE BLOCKS: TWO CASES STUDIES

چکیده
Peripheral nerve blocks have become a gold standard for anesthesia and postoperative analgesia in limb girdle surgeries due to the feeling of security, simplicity locoregional anesthesia, absence certain adverse effects when general especially quality analgesia. However, has risk.We present two case reports peripheral neuropathy after involving lumbar plexus median nerve. We discuss through literature review, pathophysiology mechanisms, risk factors, management prognosis injury during anesthesia.

Direct nerve stimulation for painful peripheral neuropathies.
Nineteen patients with chronic pain due to a traumatic peripheral neuropathy were treated by means of implanted nerve stimulation. In 11 (58%) pain was completely relieved and in four (21%) it was reduced sufficiently to discontinue analgesics. The average follow-up was 11.5 months. The technique is described and the failures discussed. The necessity for implanting the stimulator proximally is ...
متن کاملPeripheral nerve blocks in children
The performance of peripheral nerve blocks in children is similar to adults. Interestingly most of the techniques described below are often underused, and therefore only a few publications are available. We perform the entire spectrum of blocks in our daily clinical practice, and it is important to state that most of ultrasound guided blocks reflect our personal experience and not all technique...
متن کاملThe Role of Continuous Peripheral Nerve Blocks
A continuous peripheral nerve block (cPNB) is provided in the hospital and ambulatory setting. The most common use of CPNBs is in the peri- and postoperative period but different indications have been described like the treatment of chronic pain such as cancer-induced pain, complex regional pain syndrome or phantom limb pain. The documented benefits strongly depend on the analgesia quality and ...

متن کاملA review of nerve conduction studies in cases of suspected compression neuropathies of the upper limb.
INTRODUCTION Entrapment neuropathies, particularly those affecting upper limbs, are common reasons for referral for nerve conduction studies (NCS). However, concordance between clinical findings and NCS findings, especially in patients being considered for intervention including decompressive surgery, has not been assessed. METHODS We conducted a retrospective study using records from a terti...
